About the Science Class
Welcome to 8th grade science in which you will be exploring many topics in physical science. Your experience in this class will be enhanced by your energy, enthusiasm and participation. Each of you is an important member of this classroom community. Working together will not always be an easy task. It will require understanding and respect for the rights and interests of others. My goal is to minimize the rules and maximize the learning. For this to happen it is essential that you understand the following rules.
Classroom Rules
- Respect others by being polite, considerate and open-minded.
- Be prepared by bringing all necessary materials to class each day:
- 2 pencils
- Science notebook
- 3-ring binder
- Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
- Obey the hat-free and gum-free campus rules.
Laboratory Rules
- Safety is of utmost importance. Understand and follow all laboratory directions. If in doubt, ask.
- Handle all equipment and materials carefully and clean work area when done.
- Refrain from horseplay. The laboratory is not a playground.
Grading Policy
All of you begin the class with an A for this semester. Whether you retain this grade through the rest of the year depends on you. It is your responsibility to turn in all work assigned and arrange make up work when needed. Make up work will be allowed for excused absences only.
